Officer misconduct investigation leads to resignation

ST. LOUIS - A veteran police officer of 26 years and two assistant circuit attorneys are the focus of an intense officer misconduct investigation.

Bliss Worrell and Katherine Dierdorf resigned from their jobs working misdemeanor cases for the circuit attorney; they'd been there for less than a year. Detective Tom Carroll is suspended without pay and surrounded by an internal and criminal investigation.

What we don't know is what caused the suspension and resignation of these three people.

The circuit attorney sent NewsChannel 5 a statement Monday morning saying the mission of the circuit attorney's office is to pursue justice for all citizens within the highest standards of ethical behavior and professionalism.

Both the circuit attorney's office and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department would not comment on an open investigation.
