Police: Attempted child abduction in Lake St. Louis

LAKE ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - Lake St. Louis police are asking for the public's help in locating a man suspected of trying to lure a boy into his vehicle Thursday morning.

According to police, an eight-year-old boy was walking along Shire Drive off Missouri Route N around 6:25 a.m. when a man drove up and offered the child candy to get into his truck. The child returned home and told his parents, who then called 911.

Police described the suspect as a Caucasian man in his late teens or early 20s, slender build, and wearing a red baseball cap and blue t-shirt. The man was driving an older model bright red pickup truck. An African-American man was also in the truck. He was described as balding and wearing a green shirt.

Anyone with information on the man's identity or whereabouts is asked to contact the Lake St. Louis Police Department at 636-625-8018.
