Police: Guns found on Hazelwood Central High School campus

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - The St. Louis County Police Department has arrested one teenager and is looking for two others after guns were discovered on the campus of Hazelwood Central High School.

According to police, school resource officers received a tip around 2 p.m. Wednesday that something was going to happen on the student parking lot.

Safety officers and administrators supervised dismissal, and a suspicious vehicle was later found on the parking lot. When officers went to the car, two teens ran off. Two others were taken into custody after two guns were found in the car.

An 18-year-old Hazelwood Central High School student was arrested, but police are still looking for a 17 and 16-year-old.

A letter sent by the district superintendent to parents said weapons were located. Police did not confirm it was guns until Thursday morning.

County police said more patrols will be in the area today. The district believes this incident is connected to something that happened off campus earlier in the week.
