Police investigating after driver shot in face downtown

One of these escalated to a shooting just outside Culinaria -- downtown's grocery store -- at an hour people were coming home from work.

ST. LOUIS - A man was shot in the face while sitting in his car at a stoplight at the intersection of 10th and Olive Streets in downtown St. Louis.

Police said the shooting happened at around 7:30 Tuesday night. An officer on the scene said the man was sitting in his SUV when three men approached the car and attempted to rob him.

The officer said one of the men fired a shot through the driver-side window, hitting the man in the face. The man then drove one block before crashing at 9th and Olive.

Police have not taken anyone into custody in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
