Police: Man shot near downtown hotel

ST. LOUIS - A 19-year-old man was shot while stopped at a traffic light in downtown St. Louis early Monday morning, a spokesman with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.

According to investigators, a group of four men were leaving a party at the Ramada Hotel around 1:30 a.m. The men got into a vehicle and were at the stop light at N. 10th Street and Convention Plaza when a gray Pontiac Grand Am pulled alongside and a passenger in that car opened fire.

The victims sped away, but the driver was struck in the back of the head. The man managed to drive to the intersection of 10th and Market streets, and police were called.

According to police, the shooter is described as a man with medium complexion, low haircut, wearing glasses and an orange-hooded sweatshirt.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.
