Police searching for Alton property damage suspects

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) – Madison County Sheriff's deputies are searching for those involved in two separate property damage incidents in rural Alton.

A person or multiple people defaced a church and subdivision entrance pillar, according to Sheriff Robert J. Hertz. Friday afternoon, deputies responded to Salem Baptist Church in the 2000 block of Seiler Road, where someone wrote, "Hail Satan," "666," and "He's Sexy" in black on the church.

The following day residents reported spray painting on the pillar of the Woodland Hills Subdivision where a cross and "Hail Satan" were placed.
