Police: Waterloo stabbing 'crime of passion'

WATERLOO, Ill. (KSDK) – Police have arrested a 20 year-old man for the stabbing death of a man in Waterloo.

The incident occurred on the 1100 block of Cottonwood lane. Police say 28 year-old Eric Boyer went to the house and got into a confrontation with the 20 year-old man inside over a woman at the home.

According to police, the 20 year-old stabbed Boyer during the confrontation, who later died at the hospital.

The woman and the 20 year-old had minor injuries. A three year-old and a one year-old were inside the residence at the time; they were both unharmed.

Police say the suspect has been released pending further investigation. He will not be charged at this time. As a result, NewsChannel 5 will not release his name or photo.
