Racist death threat left in O'Fallon

O'FALLON, Ill. – Police in O'Fallon, Illinois are investigating a report of property damage as a possible hate crime.

Chief Eric Van Hook says officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Howard Drive Monday after a racial threat had been spray painted on the side of the victim's carport. Van Hook says officers are pursing all leads aggressively and have increased patrols in the area.

Police went door-to-door in the neighborhood to get more information on the crime and have several leads on a potential suspect.

The family who lives at the home did not want to go on camera, but say they do not know who could be behind the spray painting.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the O'Fallon Police Department at 618-624-4545.
