Registered sex offender arrested in Mexico

BENTON, Ill. - A Lawrenceville, Ill. man has pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender.

Court documents state 33-year-old Daryl Nenninger has been a registered sex offender since 2005, but failed to meet the requirement of informing the state of his travels to Mexico in December 2013.

Nenninger was arrested in Mexico March 28, 2014, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen R. Wigginton. He was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in 2005 in Bond County, Ill. He faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, and at least five years supervised release.

The case is a part of Project Safe Childhood led by Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the U.S. Attorney's Office.
