Sheriff's candidate accused of jury tampering

CARROLLTON, Ill. - An alleged Facebook post could land a Greene County Board member in jail. The board member, who's also running for sheriff, is accused of tampering with a jury trial.

The defendant is Lucas Lamb. The criminal complaint against him states Lamb took to Facebook to try to convince a juror to vote "not guilty."

The communication allegedly happened on January 13. The prosecutor says someone reported the post to the Sheriff's Department, which investigated, and then turned its case over to the state.

Lamb is charged with unlawful communication with a juror, a class four felony. The trial in question was for someone accused of speeding in a school zone. The jury found that person not guilty.

The head of the Greene County Board says Lamb remains a member at this time.

Lamb's first court appearance is scheduled for next month.
