Springfield bank robbery suspect arrested in Missouri

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A man suspected of robbing three banks in Springfield, Illinois has been arrested after allegedly robbing a Missouri bank.

WTAX Radio in Springfield reports 51-year-old James Hulsey of Desloge, Missouri was arrested Friday following a vehicle and foot chase along a central Missouri interstate. The chase occurred after Hulsey allegedly robbed a Blue Springs, Missouri bank.

Hulsey's arrest comes about two months after he was released from federal prison, where he was serving time for robbing banks in Springfield and near Kansas City more than a decade ago.

Springfield police say it and the FBI are looking into whether Hulsey is responsible for recent Springfield bank robberies.

Authorities say Hulsey was identified as a suspect in the robberies through various leads, including a Crime Stoppers tip.

No charges against Hulsey have been filed in Illinois.
