St. Charles police arrest Blanchette Park shooting suspect

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - A 19-year-old St. Charles man is in custody in connection with a shooting at Blanchette Park that left one man dead.

The shooting took place around 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, August 2. Investigators said two men were arguing near the picnic area between shelters 3 and 4 when one of the men produced a gun and shot the other.

The victim was later identified as 24-year-old Martell Crump.

The suspected triggerman, Daveon Morrison, turned himself in at police headquarters on Monday.

The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Morrison with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He's being held on $1 million cash-only boned at St. Charles County Jail.

The St. Charles Police Department is still seeking any video or photographs taken between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on August 2 in the Blanchette Park area.
