St. Clair County home invasion turns deadly

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) – A man is dead after an attempted break-in into a home in unincorporated St. Clair County Thursday, according to St. Clair County Sheriff's Department.

Shortly after noon, a man parked in the driveway of a home in the 2100 block of Imbs Station Roadand attempted to break into a home through the basement.

The homeowner, who was there at the time, heard glass shatter, retrieved his handgun and shot at the man.

The man fled the house but fell in the homeowner's driveway, where he was later found dead.

Deputies have not yet identified the intruder and are continuing to investigate the home invasion.
