Teen in custody for murder of 20-year-old woman

ST. LOUIS – A teen is in custody for Sunday's shooting death of a young woman.

Jeresha Gatlin, 20, was shot to death around 12:20 p.m. April 6 in the 2500 block of N. Market. Police say Gatlin was in a vehicle with a 19-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, 23-year-old woman, and a 9-month-old female when a suspect fired shots into the car.

The 19-year-old was shot in his buttocks and leg. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and was listed as stable.

The 20-year-old was shot in his neck, back, and wrist. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

The 23-year-old was not injured, but the 9-month-old baby suffered a minor abrasion by shattered glass. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment and released.

Police say a 17-year-old male was taken into custody for the shooting. His name will be released if charges are filed.
