Trio arrested for plotting home invasion of elderly woman

ST. PETERS, Mo. (KSDK) - The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged three men Thursday for allegedly plotting to break into an elderly woman's home and steal her valuables.

According to Detective Matt Halter of the St. Peters Police Department, the incident occurred October 22 on McClay Village Drive.

A police informant told detectives of the plan to commit a home invasion-style burglary of a woman the suspects all knew. The informant agreed to wear a wire during the planning phase of the crime and on the way to the victim's house.

When the suspects arrived at the scene, they were met by St. Charles County Regional SWAT and arrested.

Halter said police discovered a .410 shotgun in the rear of the suspects' truck.

The three suspects, Jason Britton, Rami Abdel-Aal and Joseph Middendorf, were charged with first-degree burglary and armed criminal action.
