Union worker sentenced for stealing public funding

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Illinois (KSDK) – A union worker has been sentenced for his role in embezzling public funds from the department of employment security, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton.

Kenneth Loving, of East St. Louis, will serve 10 months after being convicted of the felony charge.

According to court documents, Loving stole $25, 575 while employed at Midwest Service Group. Illinois Department of Employment Security managed the funding for the state's unemployment insurance program.

Loving has also been ordered to pay restitution of $200 per month.
