Woman kidnapped during armed U-Haul hijacking

ST. LOUIS – A woman was kidnapped during an armed U-Haul hijacking Monday afternoon.

Schron Y. Jackson, a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police department, says at 2:47 p.m. a man reported he was robbed at gunpoint of a U-Haul pick-up truck while at a gas station in the 5700 block of Natural Bridge Road, near Goodfellow Boulevard.

The victim's girlfriend was inside the vehicle when it was taken by two men armed with guns.

Around 4:40 p.m. NewsChannel 5 was told the woman had been located and is safe. That information was incorrect. The woman was not found until later Monday evening. The U-Haul was found a short time later.

The male victim was hesitant with details, leading investigators to believe there was a connection between the victim and the suspects. This theory was confirmed when the victim admitted he knows the suspects and owes them "a heroin debt."

The suspects are still on the run.
