Dogs rescued from fighting ring brought to St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Animals rescued from a suspected dog fighting ring in Louisiana are now recovering in St. Louis.

Seven dogs arrived at Stray Rescue this morning. Many of them have scars, and all are very thin.

They are receiving medical care and rehabilitation, and will eventually be available for adoption.

The dogs were taken out of Louisiana for safety reasons.

"They had threats of the dogs getting stolen again, and apparently the first time this person was arrested, his family and friends had actually broken into the facility to steal the dogs," Jennie Foster said.

A total of 49 dogs were seized in the bust. The rest of the dogs are being treated at other animal shelters across the country.
