East St. Louis man charged with robbing realty office

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) – A 24-year-old East St. Louis man faces armed robbery charges after allegedly taking an undisclosed amount of cash from a business while brandishing a gun.

Police first received a call about the robbery at about 10:30 a.m. Friday. The suspect, identified as Charles Rice, allegedly robbed Wooff Realtors on 833 Lincoln Highway and drove away in an older model Blue Chevrolet Blazer, according to a news release from Fairview Heights Police.

The victim was able to provide good descriptions of the victim and vehicle, police say, and within two minutes of the call, found Rice a few blocks away. He was taken into custody without any further incident, and a firearm was recovered from the vehicle, according to the news release.

A second suspect, who was in the vehicle during the stop, is also in custody and being questioned by police.

No one was injured during the incident.
