Wentzville, MO (KSDK) -- A local high school student has been selected to perform in the 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade, a spokesman for the Wentzville School District said Monday.

Jacob Spiegel, a junior at Holt High School, was chosen to be a member of the Bands of America Honor Band, a prestigious 325 piece national honor band. The band is scheduled to perform in Disneyland, the Tournament of Roses Bandfest, and the world-famous Rose Bowl Parade.

Spiegel, a trumpet player, will have a busy schedule ahead of him, including rehearsals and performances in California, special activities and parade appearances.

The 124th Tournament of Roses Parade will occur before the 99th Rose Bowl games on January 1, 2013.
