Maryland Heights, Mo (KSDK) - A water main break that caused the early dismissal for McKelvey Elementary students has been fixed.
The water main break forced McKelvey Road to be closed between Dorsett Road and Red Coat Drive. The fire department said a 20-inch main broke and caused a five-foot crack in the pavement.
Water shot 20 to 30 feet into the air.

McKelvey Elementary will reopen Tuesday, and water service has been restored to the 30-50 homes that were affected Monday.
McKelvey Road should reopen to traffic by 5:30 p.m.
Ann Dettmer, a Missouri American Water spokesperson says a restoration contractor working with residents in the area to check for damage.
Seven homeowners have reported damage, and restoration work has begun at several homes.
Dettmer also says their insurance firm has been in touch with residents and will work in collaboration with the home insurance companies of residents.
