Ferguson-Florissant approves teachers' raises

FLORISSANT, Mo. (KSDK) – Ferguson-Florissant teachers will receive a raise for the first time in two years next fall.

Teachers will get an experience raise of 2.73 percent that was approved by the Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education Wednesday night, according to district spokeswoman Jana Shortt.

The district has approximately 830 teachers and the salary package will cost $1.8 million for the 2014-2015 school year.

Shortt said that the district will attempt to pass a proposed 50-cent property tax rate increase before the next school year. Last August, a proposed 75-cent tax rate increase failed.

The proposed new ballot measure would generate approximately $4 million according to Shortt.
