Sixth grader brings St. Louis Blues player to school

WILDWOOD, Mo. (KSDK) – A sixth grade hockey fan got the opportunity of a lifetime to bring a St. Louis Blues player to school – well sort of.

Wildwood Middle School student Alejandra Indelicato entered a contest that would bring defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to her classroom and won.

Alejandra submitted an essay into the Famous Brands "Famous for a Day Contest," describing her love of hockey and her passion for the game, but most importantly, why Shattenkirk should visit her school.

Shattenkirk visited her middle school on March 28. While he was there, he talked to the class about the value of education, dedication and how work works always pay off. All the students in Alejandra's class received a gift bag from the St. Louis Blues and an autograph from Shattenkirk.

"It was really cool to see him in person," Alejandra said. "He even signed my jersey."
