Girls from around the state came to St. Louis Wednesday to be inspired.
Washington University hosted a STEAM event. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
The girls took part in presentations and hands-on activities to learn more about careers in those fields.
Some learned about solving crimes with science, others built tiny homes, or robots. And others learned about the medical field.
The STEAM program focuses on seventh grade girls and minority students. Organizers say that's a good age to get them interested in a career and expose them to role models.
