Ex-Marine opens fire on shoplifters

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Glendale police have arrested two people in connection with a shooting at Arrowhead Towne Center Mall on Friday.

Michael Hough, 35, and his wife Shaashana Hough, 33, were arrested Saturday night in and booked on counts of armed robbery, Glendale Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jay O'Neill said.

Shaashana Hough also was booked on one count of aggravated assault.

Investigators believe the couple shoplifted a drill from the Sears store at the mall about 12:15 p.m. Friday, and that Shaashana Hough pulled a handgun on a loss prevention officer who tried to detain them.

A 61-year-old witness took out his own gun and opened fire when he saw the confrontation.

Nobody was hurt and the Houghs got away on a black motorcycle.
