ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – After Typhoon Haiyan ripped through 36 provinces of the Philippines through the weekend, relief efforts are now underway to find families and friends.
American Red Cross deployed a disaster relief team Saturday to help with efforts and assessment of the typhoon that has affected more than 4 million people across the Philippines.
According to the Red Cross, there are 1,200 evacuation centers housing more than 330,000. According to an Associated Press report, there could be up to as many as 10,000 dead.
There are a number of ways to find family and friends who might have been affected by the typhoon.
If you haven't been able to make contact with family or friends, call the regional Red Cross office to start a trace case at 314-516-2800.
Several family and friends have used social media to find family and friends who are missing. There's a Super Typhoon Haiyan recovery Facebook page where people have posted pictures of those missing.
On Twitter, people have been using #TracingPH and #RescuePH to try and find those who have not yet been found.
Google has set up a person finder as well to help those find someone or let others know they are safe.
