Florida man leaves baby in car at Best Buy

ORLANDA, Fla. (WESH) - At around 5:30 Thursday, an off-duty trooper says a man flagged him down at the Waterford Lakes Best Buy, concerned that an infant was alone in a car in the parking lot.

The trooper says he got on the loudspeaker with shoppers outside. Then after about 10 minutes, broke the window to rescue the child. The baby boy was described as "lethargic" but unharmed.

This was not a moment where someone forgot and came back.

About ten minutes after he was flagged down, the trooper says Haider Darwash returned.

He said he thought his wife had the child. Investigators say she too was shopping but was not charged.

The dad knew the child was in the car unattended, but he was in line and wanted to shop for something?

The trooper believed that it was not an accidental thing that's why he made the arrest.

DCF is now investigating.

Meanwhile, Darwash isn't talking. But his neighbor who asked us not to show her face is concerned for all the couple's children.

I don't know what people are thinking. Your child should be with you, you should be taking care of your child before anything else.
