Franklin County will keep existing prayer policy

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) – Franklin County will continue its current prayer policy despite a Supreme Court decision upholding the tradition of offering prayers at the start of government meetings.

The Franklin County Commission used to open meetings with Christian prayers, but altered their policy after a lawsuit from the ACLU.

Now, residents can sign up to pray, but if no one does, the meeting starts with a moment of silence.

A commissioner applauded the Supreme Court's ruling Monday, but said the existing policy will remain in place.
