Glen Carbon Goodwill receives $2,500 'accidental donation'

GLEN CARBON, Ill. – A MERS Goodwill employee found $2,500 in cash Monday afternoon while she was filtering through a donation bin.

Goodwill does not believe the donation was intentional, and is looking for its rightful owner. Over the last two years, the organization has received almost $20,000 in accidental donations.

The loss prevention team scoured video surveillance, and believes the money belongs to one of three or four potential donors.

If someone would like to come forward, they are encouraged to call Goodwill at 314-982-8802. After 30 days, the money found will go the following programs:

·The MERS Goodwill sheltered workshop that serves individuals with severe disabilities.

·The MERS Goodwill Vet Success Program which supports veterans both in their return to civilian employment and independent living.

·The MERS Goodwill autism employment center that help members of the community with Autism Spectrum Disorder transition toward self-sufficiency.
