(CNN) - Moms-to-be may want to consider having a natural child birth whenever possible.

That's because a new study finds babies born by C-section may be at higher risk for developing childhood obesity.

Researchers at Boston Children's Hospital believe it boils down to the bacteria in a newborn's stomach.  They say there's a difference between that bacteria in babies born by C-section, compared to natural birth.

But scientists stress more studies are needed to confirm the findings.

The study results are published online in the Archives of Disease in Childhood.
