O'FALLON, ILL. - An email is being sent to parents in the O'Fallon Township School District after a student tested positive for mumps.
The virus is spread through saliva and mucus and can cause fever, headaches, and major swelling.
The district is asking parents to look for symptoms and take their kids to the doctor if they have any concerns.
Mumps is preventable with a vaccine.
