
KSDK -- Funeral plans have been announced for a Catawissa, Missouri soldier killed while serving his country in Afghanistan.
Sergeant First Class William "Brian" Woods, Jr., was shot while serving in Ghazni, Afghanistan. He died a few days later while being treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany.
Woods was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, Special Forces Group, (Airborne) stationed out of Glen Arm, Maryland.
Woods is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Woods who is a native of Big Rapids, Michigan, and his two daughters, Lily and Ella.
He is also survived by his mother, Pamela Woods, his sisters and brother, Catrina Kelemen, Pamela Strollo, Jesse Woods and Casey Woods, Elizabeth's sisters, Jennifer Burns and Megan Gifford, nieces and nephews, Hunter, Shelby, Kaytlyn, Rayna, Candace, Emily, Sarah, Mariya, Chase, Josh, Brian, Jesse, Christian, Gabe, Gauge, Seth and Mason, grandparents, Margaret Durbin, Joe Durbin and Rosemary Woods, aunts and uncles, JoAnn Suttles, Ronald Durbin, Lisa Kessels, John Woods and Robert Woods, Elizabeth' parents, Patricia Russell and David Russell, his German Shepherd, "Diesel", and lots of cousins and dear friends.
Visitation for Woods will be Friday, August 28 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary at 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill. The service is on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Northwest High School Lecture Hall at 6005 Cedar Hill Road. It will be followed by a private Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery at 5200 Lucas & Hunt Road in St. Louis.
