Dead woman issued parking ticket

HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KSDK) - Three months after her death, a St. Charles woman is issued a parking ticket in Hazelwood.

Cody Turner says he got a notice in the mail that his mother, Marcie, was to appear in court for parking in a fire zone.

Marcie died in January from lung cancer. The ticket was written in April.

Cody says he's had possession of his mother's car, and has never driven it to Hazelwood. He says when he called the city to explain, someone told him he is now responsible for the ticket and a warrant would be issued for his arrest if he did not appear in court.

"Trying to get through probate, being a single 24 year old, owning a house and doing all that maintenance on my own, going to school full time and working full time," said Cody. "So, at the end of the day, my plate is full and this is one less thing that I need to deal with."

Hazelwood's chief of police says a warrant has not been issued for the son's arrest and wouldn't be unless there was proof he parked the car illegally.

The case is now in the hands of the city prosecutor who's expected to review it in August.
