Advocacy group examines Midtown Metrolink station

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - There's a push to add a new light rail station to the MetroLink system, and if an advocate group has their way it will happen sooner rather than later.

This morning Citizens for Modern Transit presented results of a feasibility study.

The goal is to add a new light rail station to the growing midtown/CORTEX area, adjacent to Boyle Avenue. The plan is to make it a mixed-use destination to keep people in the area.

It's estimated it will cost just close to $9.5 million.

No information yet on how the project would be funded. It also needs Metro and federal approval. The goal is to have construction begin in two years.
