East Alton PD investigating possible child abduction

The police do not have any active missing children, but are investigating this as an abduction case.

EAST ALTON, ILL. - East Alton Police are investigating a potential child abduction they said happened Tuesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the police department, the reported abduction happened near the intersection of Grand and Murray Streets in Alton. 

Police said they received a report from a young witness who said a white utility van pulled up to a boy and pulled him into the van.

Police said the possible victim is around 13 or 14 with brown hair cut short on the sides and long on the top. He was wearing a red polo shirt and blue jean shorts.

The van was described as a white utility van with a sliding door on the side and double doors on the back. Newspapers were covering all of the windows.

Police are investigating this case. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
