Ameren Illinois prepares for storms

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – Ameren Illinois has activated its Emergency Operations Center as strong storms move toward the area.

The EOC was activated at 8 p.m. Monday as a precaution, and will be staffed 24 hours a day to coordinate service restoration and logistical support.

"We are taking the appropriate steps to respond and safely address disruptions to the system should they occur," said Ron Pate, senior vice president of Operations and Technical Services. "Should outages occur, Ameren Illinois will work closely with hospitals, police and fire departments, and local emergency officials to update lists of critical facilities with outages in their communities. Restoring power to these vital community resources is a priority. Customers can rest assured that we will get to everyone as quickly and safely as possible."

Illinois customers should contact Ameren Illinois at 1-800-755-5000 to report downed power lines, natural gas odors, or an outage. Stay away from downed power lines and always assume they are energized.

Check Ameren Illinois' website for updated outage information.
