Amtrak train headed to STL hits pedestrian

LOGAN COUNTY, Ill. – A pedestrian was struck Friday night by an Amtrak train headed to St. Louis.

The train, Amtrak's "Texas Eagle #21," was headed from Chicago to San Antonio, Texas, with a stop in St. Louis. It hit a pedestrian on the southbound tracks just north of Lincoln, Ill., in Logan County around 6:45 p.m.

The condition of the pedestrian has not been released.

A spokesperson for the Lincoln Police Department says none of the 121 train passengers were injured.

Police are investigating the incident. The train was released to complete its journey by 9:30 p.m.
