Boeing in St. Louis adding 500 jobs

A company spokesperson says there will be a variety of salaried support positions, from engineering to finance and IT

ST. LOUIS - Boeing announced Tuesday it is bringing an additional 500 jobs to the St. Louis region.

The jobs will be added between 2017 and 2020.

About 1,600 positions will also be added in Los Angeles County and Huntsville will add about 400 positions.

In a statement, Boeing said:

Boeing has announced steps it is taking to operate more efficiently that will result in substantial numbers of jobs moving to Los Angeles County, Calif; St. Louis; and Huntsville, Ala. Together, these actions will further streamline operations, improve productivity, and enhance existing resource usage. The Boeing St. Louis region will gain about 500 additional positions from 2017-2020 as a result of these transitions.

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill says bringing the jobs to Missouri makes perfect sense.

These jobs will be a big win, for the company, for our economy, and for hundreds of Missourians, and I look forward to continuing to work with Boeing as it begins this exciting transition," she said.

Missouri is already home to more than 15,000 Boeing employees.
