Students were evacuated from Alton High School and Alton Middle School after bomb threats were reported at both buildings Monday.
According to a press release from the school district, it began relocating high school students to Heartland Baptist Church and the AHS Athletic Complex at around 11:45 a.m. after getting a threatening phone call. Out of caution, the district also evacuated the middle school.
No bombs were were found, but bomb sniffing dogs from Scott Air Force Base searched the schools into the afternoon.
Madison County Deputies say they take these threats seriously, and even if it turns out the be a hoax, the person responsible could face charges.
School will resume as usual Tuesday.
