Boo Boo to live at Saint Louis Zoo

ST. LOUIS – Boo Boo, the bear cub that was granted a reprieve after it bit students at Washington University, will soon call the Saint Louis Zoo home.

Susan Gallagher, a spokesperson for the zoo says the cub will arrive Tuesday afternoon.

Last week the 2-month-old bear was brought to Washington University as a way for students to unwind after finals. He was a big hit because Washington University's mascot is the bear.

Boo Boo nipped a few students. It was nothing serious, but his nibbles did break the skin. Because he's not a domesticated animal, health officials could not rule out the possibility he had rabies. As a result, the decision was made to euthanize him so rabies testing could be done.

Late Friday afternoon, health officials gave Boo Boo the all-clear, sparing his life. Washington University students did not require rabies treatment.
