Boy who drowned would have turned 7 Saturday

FENTON, Mo. – A family is speaking just one day after a 6-year-old Fenton boy drowned at a private beach just south of Rolla.

Saturday would have been Noah Cook's seventh birthday. His aunt, Lynn Cox, says he was going into first grade at Meramec Heights Elementary School. She described him as a sweet, lively child who was always on the go and who loved everything around him.

Noah's body was found around 3 p.m. in the water at Fugitive Beach in Phelps County. His family was spending time there to celebrate Noah and his aunt's birthdays. He was the youngest of four children in the family, leaving behind one sister and two brothers.

"A tragedy can happen to anyone, at anytime. It just takes two seconds. Keep your babies close," said Cox.

Cook's family also says he had a medical condition that caused him to have seizures. They're in the process of making funeral arrangements at Fey Funeral Home.

An account has been set up to help the family pay for Noah's funeral. If you would like to donate, visit the
