Consumer group releases 2013 toxic toys report

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Despite recent industry improvements, retailers still sell a number of toys that could pose a hazard to children's health, according to an advocacy group's recent report.

The Missouri Public Interest Research Group released its 28th "Trouble in Toyland" report Tuesday to caution parents, families and friends on possible harmful toys on store shelves this holiday season.

According to the report, a number of toys tested for high levels of toxic chemicals and had louder noises that exceed recommendations. The report also found small toys and magnets that could pose choking dangers on shelves.

The full report can be found on the MoPIRG website.
