Cotteville Fire District goes solar

COTTEVILLE, Mo. (KSDK) - The sun will shine a little more brightly on the Cotteville Fire District.

Three of the four fire stations are being covered in solar panels as a part of joining a state renewable energy program, which is managed through Missouri Ameren Solar.

The program will boost the use of solar energy and reduce cost through energy refunds to participating residents and businesses

People can buy a solar energy system directly or enter into a lease. The Cotteville Fire District will be leasing the solar panels at a 20 year rate, which means they will buy power at a reduced rate, and at the end of their 20 year lease, will renegotiate the terms.
