County church struggles after van is stolen

A north county church community is praying for help after someone stole the van they use to pick up families so they can attend service.

The members of a North St. Louis County church are devastated after their van was stolen. And although it was found, they’re still struggling.

The pastor of the church said the Dodge Caravan was parked outside her home, and it was stolen sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Police later found it, but the church says they are worried it could be damaged beyond repair. They use the van to bring people to Sunday services, and they’ll even loan out the van to church members who need it.

"Our young people need us. we have a lot of young people who don't have vehicles, either," said Pastor Julia Byas.  "They need the van to get backwards and forwards and to the church, too."

The church pastor said the van is being processed for evidence, so they don’t know when they’ll be able to get it back from police.
