Dillard's to close for weeks after water main breaks

An 8-inch water main caused damage that could keep the store closed for weeks or months.

CHESTERFIELD, MO. - The Monarch Fire Department said the Dillard's store in Chesterfield will be closed for weeks after a pipe burst in the third floor of the building Wednesday morning.

The Monarch Fire Department said crews working on an escalator in the building on the 100 block of Chesterfield Center noticed water coming form the a light fixture. Shortly after, ceiling tiles and more water began falling.

The water came from an 8-inch water pipe in the third floor that burst. The repair men pulled the fire alarm, and firefighters responded at around 9:20 a.m.

The Monarch Fire Department said the damage would likely keep the story closed for weeks or months. The building is not a part of the mall.
