Driver flees from scene of fatal Warren County crash

WRIGHT CITY, Mo. (KSDK) – Police are looking for the person driving a vehicle that careened off the left side of a Warren County Road Saturday night, flying down an embankment and hitting a tree. The only passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver fled, authorities say.

It happened just before 9 p.m. on Mark Peterson Drive – 1.5 miles west of Missouri Route F. The vehicle is described as a 2004 Dodge Intrepid. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but state troopers say speed and the icy road were likely a factor.

The passenger has been identified as 57-year-old John Rogier of Wright City.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C at 636-300-2800.

No additional information was immediately available.
