Elderly woman killed in St. Charles accident

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – An elderly woman was killed Wednesday morning in St. Charles.

Police say a white Ford Econoline van and blue Toyota Corolla collided at the intersection of Golfway and West Clay around 7:17 a.m.

The driver and passenger of the Corolla were transported to an area hospital. The passenger, identified as 85-year-old Pearlie Cooper, was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle is listed in serious condition. That person's name has not been released.

The driver of the van was not injured.

Police say at this time charges are not expected to be filed, though the cause of the accident is under investigation.
