$18,000-worth of toys given to drive in honor of fallen MSHP trooper

The toy drive will benefit sick and injured children.

A state trooper who died in the line of duty will continue to have a positive impact on our community this Christmas.

Trooper James Bava was killed in a crash last year, while trying to pull over a speeding suspect in Audrain County.

The toy drive collected more than $18,000 worth of toys for injured or sick children.

They said it's a way to remember him while carrying on his acts of generosity.

Bava's sister got the idea for a toy drive when she remembered something he did when he was just 9-years-old.

The toys will be given to St. Louis Children's Hospital.
