The lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Leigh and Stormy Britt, the wife and daughter of the firefighter, respectively, according to court documents. The Curators did not properly maintain the apartments, which caused Lt. Britt's death.

Earlier this month, a report showed that the apartment's walkways were in imminent danger of collapse and found similar problems at other buildings.

No further information was immediately available.
