Fire ravages north St. Louis County church

The damage could cost thousands of dollars.

HANLEY HILLS, MO. - A fire ripped through the sanctuary and office spaces of Mount Beulah Missionary Baptist Church on Racine Drive in Hanley Hills last Wednesday.

The church serves about 700  members right now.

Dr. E.G. Shields Jr. has been a co-pastor of the church for more than a decade. He says water damage and smoke damage were so severe at the church's preschool that it's currently closed.

They also have no water or electricity in the building that burned. Pastor Shields Jr. doesn't think insurance will cover all of the damage from the fire.

However, he says this difficult time has brought the congregation closer together.

"It has actually caused us to come together even more and realize our church and our community and realize those that we serve."

Those interested in giving contributions to the church should visit their website for contact information.
